I would consider this year's Christmas the best I've ever had.
Thanks Sweetheart.
I would consider meeting you the best present I ever stumbled upon too :) Love you.
He brought me to a Japanese restaurant that's located on top of a hill- a hilltop.
And so very simply, the restaurant is named Hilltop Japanese. Ha.
But it's a wonderful place.
Situated at Jurong, about walking distance from the Jurong Bird Park ( oh yes I walked downhill at 10pm with 2.5 inch heels ] , the Hilltop is-Fantastic.
The air and breeze there is the freshest and coolest yet, and if you visit the place early evening when the sky is still clear, you might be able to catch some birds fluttering around, as well as eagles in the sky. We caught sight of about 4 eagles today. Grass here greener too!
The Japanese restaurant is also famous for its Teppanyaki, which I feel it lives up to its name.
We were brought into a divided room for Teppanyaki, where the chef would cook your dishes in front of you.
We ordered
King Prawns [$20]
Sirloin Steak [$22]
Scallops [$20]
Soft Shell Crab [$6]
Olive Rice with Chicken [$3]
The King prawns were huge, its head alone was bigger than the average shrimp we saw in markets. But pricey too! It was only one prawn per person, but boy was it good.
The chef was pretty skillful I suppose, before I could even whip out my phone to capture his art, the chef had already sliced and deveined the prawn.
The staff served the olive rice soon after, it was pretty good.
The big fresh scallops came after that, if I remember correctly...
Followed by complimentary bean sprouts, not bad, tho a tad bland.
The soft shell crab was wrapped in a egg omelette, resembling the type in Ramly's burgers or something. hm... Mickey didn't comment much about it, but I found the crab a bit heavy on the seasoning; too strong for my tastebuds.
The highlight was the steak- Where the chef practically set the steak on fire and whoa was it hot! The fire was like huge, as tall as the chef, and you could suddenly feel the surge of heat from the frying.. pan? LOL whatever you call it.
Awesome.
However, we didn't manage to catch a shot at its flamiest.. this is how it was when it started to die off.
The minus was the the smell of smoke and oily food lingering in my hair and everything else around me, which includes my boyfriend too : [
But I guess that's expected.
Oh and they dress you up in ugly orange bibs. At least Mickey looks like a cute chef who can't stop grining at the customer because he's too excited =x , but I look like I'm wearing the Chinese du tou! For those who don't know what's a du tou.. it's a type of lingerie worn by ancient Chinese women.
Oh and our chef wasn't too friendly, he was scowling and wincing all the time. But he did mention it was because the heat from the pan was very hot. And we heard him swear under his breath at the waitress. And he's bald! I didn't expect to see a sparse patchy head when he bent down to adjust the heat *snickers
The meal ended with me chewing on some parsley or coriander or some herb, and wringing in distaste, with a big gulp of japanese green tea to wash it down.
We were then sent to another room for another complimentary dessert- Mango Pudding.
Yum.
I'm half-drunk and all floaty after all that food in my tummy. *swoons*
Good food makes you get all ecstatic sometimes.
Oh and the ambiene is pretty good; cosy and dim lighting.
I'm so gonna grow fat.
We had our bill and it summed up to $88.20. No service charge! *nods in approval
We proceeded to get some pee out of our systems...
LOL
Then we walked up the spiral tower, to the top!
Ah, the night view is gorgeous.
It overlooks Jurong Island, a huge island with lots of factories and harbours. Plenty of lights.
A tad blur, kinda artsy tho.
It's so windy up there it made my long purple skirt fly over the place, and there was once it flew so high it could feel a piece of the fabric of my panties when i hurriedly shoved my arms down to flatten it! Fortunately, no one was there to view it.
Over shoulder shot of Jurong Island.
I liked the feeling of my skirt flying though. It is sort of... nice. and good. shrugs.
And we have our spirits high and happy!!!!!!!!! *coz we're so hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiighhh...*
